Meet the Team: Jessica James
Jessica James recently moved into the role of Court Coordinator. You’ve probably seen her name if you’ve reviewed a proof copy of a public notice or sent in a cancellation request. Jessica first joined Law Bulletin Media in 2014 and has been working with our PNN team since 2022; she also works closely with our Daley Center team and Input/Proof team to review public notices placed in the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin.

What do you enjoy about your current role?
As Courts Coordinator, I have various tasks that I perform daily but what I like the most is being able to help solve problems and assist customers with various needs, like cancellations. I like making sure their notices are on point and what they have requested. I also enjoy communicating with staff and working as a team to provide top-tier customer service.

What do you do for fun outside of work?
I love getting out and experiencing what the city has to offer. Some of my favorite activities are bowling, shooting pool, exploring different escape rooms, going to festivals (when the weather permits), seeing music concerts and comedy shows, visiting different museums, miniature golf, and just hanging out with friends.

Tell us about your art: What inspires you? How did you get started? How does creating art make you feel?
My creative journey as an artist goes back as far as I would like to say the age of 7 years old. Because I love the world of fashion, I would spend most of my time drawing different fashion designs that were either my own or take inspiration from a designer and try to tweak it. I studied Design at Columbia College Chicago for two years and Fashion Design at the International Academy of Art and Design for two years as well. As I’ve gotten older, I have branched out to drawing different things that were outside of fashion. I would say fashion is definitely a huge inspiration for me, but also pop culture and my emotions or how I am feeling in that moment. I use various mediums such as color pencils, pens, chalk, markers, and mixed media.

What’s a goal you’d like to reach at work or in life?

In regards to work, I like would to continue to gain more knowledge about the workings of the company so that I can be a well-rounded employee, therefore continuing to be a great asset to PNN as well as Law Bulletin itself. Also, to continue to be a high performer and extend my influence within the organization beyond my reach. As for a goal in life, to grow my business as an artist and designer on an international level. To create and produce merchandise for those who see themselves in their own uniqueness, rather than adapting to the status quo. Just as other brands have become household names my business, JessiJai Dzgns, will also flourish in that capacity. Inside each one of us is an inner voice that says, “I choose to be who I am,” and I believe my brand will speak that.
